Makes about 12 pieces
When I think of jerky, I have fond memories of being dressed in full camouflage attire walking next to my daddy late in a crisp Florida afternoon. We would sit together for hours in tree stands and fishing boats, my daddy always smiling from ear to ear that his daughter could shoot a shotgun and clean the scales off a fish with a single kitchen spoon (that mama didn't know we were using). Trips where the fishy smells lingered night after night and we lived off of coca-cola and beef jerky!
Although the product of my many successful huntin' and fishin' trips are still proudly hanging on the wall at my parents house; I have chosen to leave my BEEF jerky eating days behind and picked up a WAY better recipe! TOFU JERKY! This recipe gives you the hot, skip, and the jump of what jerky should be, but leaves you without bloating, constipation, or acid reflux!
This recipe is so good, I don't even think my daddy will be able to tell the difference! =)
-1 Excalibur Dehydrator
-1 deep baking pan
-1 pound of ORGANIC NON GMO extra-firm TOFU
-1/2 cup BRAGGS AMINO LIQUID
-1 TBS BRAGGS APPLE CIDER VINEGAR
-1 tablespoon fresh lemon (or lime) juice
-4 tablespoons of papirika
-1 tablespoon Onion powder
-1 teaspoon garlic powder
-1 tablespoon ground black pepper
-1 teaspoon dried parsley
-1 teaspoon RAW ORGANIC Maple Syrup
1.) Slice the tofu in 1' slices. Then cut those slices into strips! Set the tofu strips a side in a drainer for a few minutes while you make the marinade!
2.) Combine the BRAGGS Amino Liquid and BRAGGS Apple Cider Vinegar in a medium size bowl and stir.
3) Add the fresh lemon juice, and RAW Organic Agave Nectar to the marinade and stir.
4.) Then splash the rest of the seasoning into the mixture! And of course, continuing mixing the marinade until evenly distributed!
5) Grab your deep baking pan and place the tofu in the pan side by side!
6.) Now, stir the marinade one more time and then pour ALL of the mixture over the tofu into the pan!
7.) Cover with cling wrap and put the marinating tofu in the refrigerator overnight!
8.) In the morning, get your dehydrator trays and cover the trays with the NON-STICK drying sheets! Then take each piece of tofu out of the marinade and onto the dehydrator trays! For one recipe, you should only need one tray.
9.) Dehydrate for 8 hours on 155 degrees! Then eat and enjoy this healthy twist to jerky!!
**You can store Tofu Jerky in a container with a tight fitting lid and it will keep indefinitly!
